COVID-19: a virologist’s perspective
with Mike Skinner

7.30pm Tuesday 8th September 2020

Dr Michael Skinner has worked on the molecular biology of both animal and human viruses, including coronaviruses, since 1981. Most recently his work has focussed on studying innate immune responses, the arm of immunity that can cause severe COVID-19 symptoms, using ‘next generation sequencing’ approaches.

His talk will cover:

    • Introduction to pandemics,
    • COVID-19 emergence,
    • Testing,
    • Vaccines.

Come armed with your questions!

Mike moved from Compton Laboratory in Berkshire to Imperial College London in 2005, where he is a Reader in Virology.
