David Wilson Homes Southern (DWHS) and Homes England are inviting residents and local stakeholders to an engagement event on Wednesday 14 January 2026 to consider the detailed proposals for the former Institute for Animal Health Site, High Street, Compton. Hybrid planning permission was granted in March 2023 for the redevelopment of the site and included demolition of existing buildings, change of use of the northern part of the site to a wildlife habitat area and outline planning permission for up to 160 dwellings and 1.75 hectares of employment land.
DWHS and Homes England are progressing the detailed scheme for the residential part of the development and are seeking comments from the community in relation to the proposals. The team are also keen to understand any concerns the local community may have. The technical team working on the project will be available to answer any questions residents may have and will be happy to talk attendees through the proposals as needed.
This is an opportunity for the community to learn about the proposals prior to the submission of the reserved matters planning application to West Berkshire Council.
We look forward to welcoming you to the event.
