Welcome to Newbury and Thatcham Repair Cafe serving Newbury, Thatcham and the surrounding area.
Newbury and Thatcham Repair Cafe holds events where visitors bring items for repair such as electronic and electrical goods, clothes and textiles, crockery, wood items, toys etc. Volunteer repairers repair these items with the visitors, if those repairs are feasible. Repairs are free but we appreciate donations to keep the Repair Cafe running.
The Repair Cafe runs events about once a month, alternating between Newbury and Thatcham. Venues and dates are as follows from February through to June 2024.
Please note events are Sunday afternoon in Newbury, and Sunday morning in Thatcham!
We are unable to repair microwaves, petrol-driven items, gas appliances and items too large for one person to carry on their own e.g. fridges or large items of furniture. We can’t repair mobile phones but we can give advice. Currently, we are also are unable to repair clocks and watches. If in doubt as to whether the item is suitable to bring for repair, please email us – [email protected]. We also suggest that you check the warranty of your item to see if it can be fixed by the manufacturer.
We ask that you bring 1 item only for repair. If you have several items needing repair, please bring your most important item. The item should be clean e.g. crumbs removed from toasters, vacuum cleaners emptied and clothing washed and ironed (if applicable). For electrical and electronic items, please bring the lead/charger/batteries with you, and for clothing, please bring any buttons or zips etc which need replacing.
We look forward to seeing you at the Newbury and Thatcham Repair Cafe.
