Welcome to Newbury and Thatcham Repair Café, serving Newbury, Thatcham and the surrounding area.
At Newbury and Thatcham Repair Café events, visitors bring items for repair such as electronic and electrical goods, clothing and textiles, pottery, wooden items, toys, etc. Mobile phone and IT advice is also available, and we can sharpen tools and other blades such as scissors. Skilled volunteers repair these items with the visitors if a repair is feasible. Repairs are free, but we appreciate donations to help fund future events.
The Repair Café runs events once a month, alternating between Newbury and Thatcham. For the rest of 2024, the venues and dates are as follows:
- Sunday June 30th 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Newbury Methodist Church Hall, RG14 1AN
- Sunday July 28th 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, RG18 4QH
- Sunday August 18th 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Newbury Methodist Church Hall, RG14 1AN
- Sunday September 29th 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, RG18 4QH
- Sunday October 27th 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Newbury Methodist Church Hall, RG14 1AN
- Sunday December 1st 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Frank Hutchings Community Hall, Thatcham, RG18 4QH
Please note that events are on a Sunday afternoon in Newbury, and on a Sunday morning in Thatcham.
Some items are not suitable for us to repair due to safety reasons, such as microwaves, petrol-driven items, and gas appliances. Items should be light/small enough for one person to carry. If in doubt, please email us at NewburyThatchamRepairCafe@gmail.com. We also suggest that you check the warranty of your item to see if it can be fixed by the manufacturer in the first case.
We ask that you bring only one clean item for repair. Later in the event, there may be time to rejoin the queue and have a second item repaired depending on how busy we are. For electrical and electronic items, please bring the lead/charger/batteries with you; for clothing, please bring any buttons or zips, etc. that need replacing.
