Heritage Walk: Market Place & Cheap St
Starting in the Market Place, the site of the Guildhall, the stocks and Queen Victoria’s statue, and then following a path towards the railway station, including the site of the building where Lord Falkland stayed before the First Battle of Newbury.
David Peacock researches, writes and lectures on the history of the Newbury area. He is the author of The Story of Newbury (2011), has written for local newspapers, taught evening classes, and given talks to many clubs and societies.
Each walk lasts about 1½ hours and has limited spaces. Bespoke walks can be arranged. Please note: Walks start at the Corn Exchange, except for the Wash Common walks
