Geology Field Trip

14 December @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm

On Sunday, 14th December Newbury Geology Society will be visiting Ladle Hill (the other side of the valley from the well-known Beacon Hill fort). Ladle Hill fort was started but never completed, leaving unique evidence of how our Iron Age ancestors organised these major projects. If time and weather permit, we will also visit Duncroft Farm chalk pit, to study evidence of the Kingsclere monocline (a ridge driven up when the chalk folded in tectonic plate movements that, further east, created – and are still adding to – the Alps). Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. Minibus, spaces limited. For more information and to book contact secretary@newburygeology.org.uk.
