World Labyrinth Day

4 May @ 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm

East Garston Meeting House has created a new turf labyrinth in its peaceful garden and invites everyone to come and celebrate World Labyrinth Day on Saturday 4 May.

Every year on the first Saturday in May thousands of people around the globe participate in World Labyrinth Day as a moving meditation for world peace and celebration of the labyrinth experience.  Participants “Walk as One” at 1pm local time to create a rolling wave of peaceful energy passing from one time zone to the next, and there are additional ways to participate. Read more!

Many labyrinths have been constructed recently in churches, hospitals, and parks. These are often used for contemplation; walking among the turnings, one loses track of direction and of the outside world, and thus quiets the mind.

World Labyrinth Day

Arrive from 12.30pm.

Walk as One at 1pm – everyone will be invited to walk the labyrinth.

There will also be some craft activities to enjoy and we are requesting donations of flowering plants to plant round the outside circle of the labyrinth.

Teas and cake will be available (by donation).

You are welcome to bring your own picnic or have lunch at Priscilla’s Kitchen just opposite.

Testimonials from people who have walked the labyrinth:

“As soon as I started walking the labyrinth I noticed my shoulders started to relax and my mind tuned into the bird song in the garden.”

“I had a surprising sense of entering a place of safety when I reached the middle. It was like I was being centred with myself. And when I was ready, I walked back out of the labyrinth to re-enter the outside world.”
