This special week is dedicated to observing plants and animals in burial grounds. This helps us monitor and celebrate our precious wildlife in the quadrants that aren’t being mowed.
Everything is provided and the process is self-explanatory so please pop into the churchyard any time between Saturday 8 and Sunday 16 June.
On Saturday 15 June do enjoy our pop-up Coffee Pot Cafe with delicious homemade cakes between 10.30am and 12noon.
Wilder Churches is a collaboration between BBOWT wildlife trust and the Diocese of Oxford.
Churchyards are often the oldest enclosed piece of land in a parish and so many, having avoided ploughing, still support a rich variety of wildflowers and wildlife. These habitats often act as valuable stepping-stones for wildlife through urban or agricultural landscapes.
