National Animal Welfare Trust Berkshire are holding an art competition to search for young artistic talent. The event will take place from the 3rd April and all entries must be made by 24th April 2020 at 4pm. ‘Search for young artistic talent’
Draw or Paint for the National Animal Welfare Trust with the criteria
‘Your favourite animal, pet or a resident at Trindledown Farm’

How to Enter: Think about your favourite animal, is it an elephant? A dog? A hippo? Is it your pet? Or an animal that lives at Trindledown Farm?  Put this image onto paper (draw or paint) and submit to be considered as the competition winner.  Winning entrants will be judged on their artistry, creativity and originality.

Entrants may use a variety of media, such as watercolour, pen and ink, crayon, chalk, markers, etc.  However computer clip art, photos, sculptures or collages will not be accepted. Entries must be no larger than standard A4 piece of paper and no smaller than A5.

Who can enter: The competition is open to young people between the ages of 0-16, from anywhere in the UK.

There will be a winner from each of two age groups:

Category 1 > Ages 0-4

Category 2 > Ages 5-9

Category 3 > Ages 10-16

Prizes:

  • Category 1 (0-4 year olds) – The winner will receive:

Unique chance to have their work published and circulated in

  • NAWT Autumn/Winter edition Animate magazine
  • NAWT 2021 Calendar

Invite to a special awards ceremony later this year for the winners at Trindledown Farm with a tour of the centre and a photo taken with one of our residents

 

  • Category 2 (5-9 year olds) – The winner will receive:

£20 Pocket money

An Easter egg

Unique chance to have their work published and circulated in

  • NAWT Autumn/Winter edition Animate magazine
  • NAWT 2021 Calendar

Work exhibited in Wantage Art Gallery

Invite to a special awards ceremony later this year for the winners at Trindledown Farm with a tour of the centre and a photo taken with one of our residents

  • Category 3 (10-16 year olds) – The winner will receive:

£50 Pocket money

An Easter egg

Unique chance to have their work published and circulated in

  • NAWT Autumn/Winter edition Animate magazine
  • NAWT 2021 Calendar

Work exhibited in The Dolphin Art Gallery in Wantage.

Payment: Entry fee is £4 and payment can be made via paypal at trindledownebay@nawt.org.uk please state the name of the entrant in the payment details and select ‘friends and family’ option to avoid the charity paying additional fees. Payment can also be paid by calling 01488567971

Where to send your entry: all entries must be sent in by 4pm on the 24th April 2020.

Entries must be either scanned into an email or a picture taken of the artwork and sent to trindledowncomp@gmail.com you will get a response to say when we have received your entry.

Each entry must have the following information in accompanying message;
Full name, age, telephone and e-mail address.
All winners and runners up will be contacted by the 1st May 2020.

 

*** We do ask that all contestants keep the original piece of artwork so if they are chosen as the winner it can posted and be displayed ***

 

Terms & Conditions

  1. The National Animal Welfare Trust will retain the right to reproduce the artwork on any of their products, without remuneration to the winners or their families. 2. No entries will be accepted after 4pm on the 24th April 2020. 3. Non-monetary prizes cannot be exchanged for cash. 4. Decision of the judges will be final. 5. All entrants must comply with the acceptance terms and conditions. 6. The National Animal Welfare Trust cannot be responsible for any damage to the artwork.

Family Activity Day – Black pepper

The national bird of India is a peacock so we’ll be using Deco pens to paint a picture of this bird’s colourful feathers on a rock using real examples of the feathers, so you’ll have a beautiful ornament or paperweight to take home.

Also, colour-in a wooden garden stake to use with the Growing2gether activity outside in the kitchen garden from 10.30am to 3pm. Join Growing2gether in planting some fast growing rocket to take home to then harvest for your salad. You can also smell and taste other Elizabethan herbs and discover their many uses.

Growing2gether are a small local charity providing work experience and training to adults with learning disabilities as well as family fun days and a thriving toddler group open to all.

You can do all the activities today for the usual charge of £2 per child.

For 4-11 year olds but younger and older children are welcome. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No need to book, drop in

Make a giant seal out of air-drying clay, design your own emblem on it and then paint it with glossy paint.  You can then use it at home to place on items you wish to keep private and secure as that was one of the original purposes of a seal (to secure letters).

Decorate a face mask with Deco pens and a variety of other craft materials, and find out about the Elizabethan masque when these masks were worn; a masque would have included dancing and acting. Once you’ve made your mask, you can put on your own masque at home.

Please dress for mess with all these activities. Aprons will be available and you are welcome to bring your own.
