Climate Change Talk @ St Lawrence's Church
Jun 3 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Climate Change Talk @ St Lawrence's Church | England | United Kingdom

Climate change seems to always be in the news these days.

The science shows that the world is warming as a result of human activities.  There is also increasing evidence of the effects on people and nature, as a result of heatwaves, droughts, floods and wildfire.  Many people are deeply worried about climate change as recent protests show, but what can we actually do about it?  Can we really make a difference?

This talk will give us an overview of the science and some of the solutions: both in terms of what we can do as individuals and collectively.

Mike has spent most of his scientific career doing research on the impacts of climate change on the natural environment; he currently works for the government conservation agency Natural England, is an Honorary Research Associate at Oxford University and a lead author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change; he’s also a Hungerford resident and a licensed lay minister at St. Lawrence’s Church.

World Gin Day & Open Garden at Mount Prosperous @ Mount Prosperous Garden, nr Hungerford | England | United Kingdom

Celebrate World Gin Day at Mount Prosperous Garden, nr Hungerford, RG17 0RP

8th June 12.00-5.00 – £8.00 adults, children free

Mount Prosperous has not been opened to the general public for 12 years. Here is an opportunity to visit a quintessential English country garden of about 4 acres. Once the home to the 18th century agricultural reformer Jethro Tull.

The gardens have been developed and improved substantially over the last 20 years and include herbaceous borders, pond, cascade, walled rose garden, Italian pool garden, vegetable plot, wildflower meadow and woodland walk. Also the only full size replica of Jethro’s seed drill.

Teas, Gin, BBQ and craft stalls. Why not enjoy a nice glass of G & T whilst enjoying the fabulous garden and views of the rural countryside?

All profit to Shalbourne Village Hall (registered charity) to continue the improvements.

Jun 26 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Campaign Against Climate Change – Mass lobby of MPs @ Westminster Bridge | United Kingdom

The Climate Coalition are organising a mass lobby of MPs on Wednesday 26th June. Around 10,000 people are expected to gather in Westminster, in groups with others from their constituency. It’s an opportunity to talk to your MP and demonstrate that their constituents are calling for urgent action on climate change!

Date: Wednesday, June 26, 2019 – 13:00 to 16:00

A group from Hungerford will be attending the demo, travelling to London on the 09:43 train from Hungerford.  The event is on either side of Thames, between Westminster and Lambeth Bridges, from 1 to 4 pm.

Bring an alarm clock, because we are going to make a hell of a din at 2 pm to wake up MP’s to the urgency of environmental issues.
