Aldbourne 5k Fun Run & Summer Fair @ The Green
Jun 9 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

The last 2 years have been wonderful events and if you were involved you’ll be thrilled to know the Aldbourne 5k Fun Run is returning on: Sunday 9th June 2019

Last year an amazing 47% of the participants were under the age of 18 confirming that anyone could take part. 3 year olds were seen sprinting up Baydon Hill (well, for a bit anyway), followed by pushchairs and dog walker-joggers.

Our 3 overreaching aims were achieved:

(1) we held a truly community event that everyone felt able to participate in

(2) we got young and old alike out into the countryside enjoying exercise and

(3) we raised a wonderful and much needed amount for St Michael’s School

Last year the Fun Run raised a colossal profit of more than £3,000 thanks to most of the village supporting it in one way or another and some wonderfully generous sponsorship. The Friends of St Michael’s School are organising their Summer Fair to coincide with the end of the Fun Run so bring your pennies along, join us for lunch and a drink and some fun games.

Do come along this June to enjoy another wonderful day!

Victoria Park Family Fun Day @ Victoria Park
Jun 23 @ 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Victoria Park Family Fun Day @ Victoria Park | England | United Kingdom

Following the success of last year’s event, Newbury Town Council will be holding a Family Day in Victoria Park on Sunday 23 June from 12 noon to 4pm.

There will be entertainment throughout the day which will include traditional Punch & Judy shows, face painting, dancing and singing on the bandstand with the Ragtime Theatre School, and Watership Brass.

There will be live falconry displays throughout the afternoon and Kennet Radio will be there too broadcasting live from the event and we’ll even have a Fire Engine for you to explore.

The local branch of ‘Rugby Tots’ will be coming along so you can meet them. They run groups for 2 – 7 year olds to develop their social and physical skills, in a fun, positive environment.

The Bowls Club are happy to welcome new members and the Club will be open for everyone to look around and have a chat about membership and how you can get involved.

The tennis courts will be open too, and as part of the ‘Nature Valley Big Tennis Weekend’, our coaches, the National Tennis Association, will be on hand to chat about classes and how you can get involved. Membership for a whole year for a family costs just £44 and with the new floodlighting, the courts are even more accessible for everyone and if you join on the day, you get 1 month’s free membership!   You can even book a FREE coaching slot for the day via our website.

Our children’s Splash Park will be open, as it is every day throughout the summer from 10:30am until 5pm so children can make the most of the day, and hopefully the sunshine.  The Skatepark will be open to everyone so come along and show off your skills.

The ‘Friends of Victoria Park’, a volunteer group who welcome new members, will be available at the event to discuss their involvement.

Newbury Town Council would like to invite everyone along on Sunday 23 June to see what’s going on and enjoy all the facilities on offer!.
