Talk - Excavating Archives @ West Berkshire Museum | England | United Kingdom

Talk – Excavating Archives

This talk by Charlotte Booth uses previously unstudied archival material to identify missing and damaged ancient Egyptian monuments and demonstrate the potential for reconstruction of such lost inscriptions.

Using paper squeezes from seven UK collections dating from 1850s to 1950s of ancient Egyptian monuments, the potential of archival material to reconstruct the past will be explored. Squeezes as an archival resources are present in their hundreds of thousands around the world and are a mostly untapped archaeological resource.

Charlotte Booth is a freelance Egyptologist with a PhD from University of Birmingham on the study of archival squeezes of Egyptian monuments.

Back to Work, Back to You: Support Session for Mums Returning to Work @ St John's School | England | United Kingdom

You paused your career to take care of your children & you’ve loved every minute.

You feel like you’ve given them a great foundation in life & all the love & support they have needed in the early years. However now you’re feeling like it’s time for you.

Time to remember who you are, unleash your skills & talents & find a career that you love. You would like to feel more fulfilled, be a role model for your children & share your gifts with the world again.

That all sounds really exciting…however you actually don’t know where to start….

You don’t feel as self confident as you used to & you’re not even sure who you are anymore (apart being someone’s mummy).

And you’re not sure what you could offer the a company? As well as having no idea where to start with your CV & the thought of an interview is terrifying.

We really get it. We understand these feelings & have been in this situation ourselves. That’s exactly why we’d love to help you.

Karen Ferris & Claire Doré are both Mums too & now run their own businesses supporting Mums back into the workplace.

Karen is a HR expert working with individuals to develop their potential. Karen has more than 20 years experience of corporate leadership & management roles within professional services & not for profit sectors.

Claire Doré is a Confidence Coach who supports Mums to regain their identity & rebuild their self esteem so they can step into the job of their dreams with confidence. Claire has worked in both the corporate & business world & understands the challenges that can arise.

Karen & Claire will create a non judgemental & safe space to discuss & explore the following:

What are your values & prioroties in life.
What your gifts & talents are / the career options available to you.
What’s in the way of you stepping back into work.
The practicalities of returning to work.
Share tips on how to prepare your CV.
Share ways to rebuild your self confidence & create harmony in your work / life.
And ultimately give you the boost & helping hand you need to start searching for your ideal role.
Sound like the support you need to make that next step?

Refreshments will be provided. Please bring a notepad & pen.

Book your ticket here: it’s free for the first 10 people and then £5.

Mar 3 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Author Talk - Ollie Hunter's 30 Easy Ways to Join the Food Revolution @ White Horse Bookshop | England | United Kingdom

It sometimes feels as though the conversation about the environment is a doom-laden harangue. Fortunately we have someone local (no airmiles) and successful (awarded ‘Most Sustainable Business’) who can show us how to make small changes in our daily habits, and shop, cook and eat economically, sustainably and deliciously. Ollie and his wife Lauren run The Wheatsheaf in Chilton Foliat and will talk about his book 30 Easy Ways to Join the Food Revolution. With locally grown, seasonal ingredients and using parts of the vegetable that other chefs discard, Ollie will demonstrate and share his no-waste ideas and his canapés on Tuesday 3 March.

6.30pm start. Tickets £5 (include a glass of wine and nibbles).

We look forward to seeing you there!
