Town & Manor and Hungerford Town Hall

It’s all-systems-go at The Town and Manor with the preparations for this year’s Hocktide celebrations in full swing.
 
This week Commoners will be involved in the ‘selection of the Hocktide Jury’ and those Commoners who have held offices in the past will have the opportunity to attend the ‘Macaroni Supper’ to discuss officers for the next 12 months.
 
On Saturday 11 April you have an opportunity to meet this year’s Tuttimen on the Town Hall steps between 10am-12pm to find out more about their role and other aspects of these ancient celebrations.
 
All this leading up to the Assize Ale on Monday followed by the Hocktide Court, Tuttimen visiting Commoners’ homes and the Hocktide Luncheon on Tuesday 14 April. There will also be the wonderful Hungerford Town Band concert in the evening in the Town Hall.

And a quick reminder that Hungerford residents and charities get a 20% discount on hire rates of the Town Hall complex (except for weddings).

Mawers Fishmonger

Paula Mawer is a long-established fishmonger from Grimsby who visits Hungerford and the surrounding area every Wednesday. From about 8am to about 12.30pm she’s at the Hugerford Market in the High Street. But if you miss her there, call to arrange a delivery either regularly or as a one-off. 

For the rest of Wednesday, Paula visits customers in villages within a roughly ten-mile radius of the town.
