Higher Level Teaching Assistant required in Hungerford

If you’re passionate about raising standards of achievement for all pupils by providing support for pupils, the teacher and our school you could be just the person we’re looking for to join our team at Oaklands School in Hungerford.

You’ll utilise your advanced levels of knowledge and skills to assist with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes, and to encourage our pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of our pupils in all aspects of school life

  • Salary: Depending on experience.
  • Hours of work: 35 per week (term time).

Job purpose

  • To complement teachers’ delivery of the national curriculum and contribute to the development of other support staff, pupils and school policies and strategies.
  • To work collaboratively with teaching staff and assist teachers in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources.
  • To supervise whole classes occasionally during the short-term absence of teachers.
  • To provide support for pupils, the teacher and the school in order to raise standards of achievement for all pupils (eg those with autism or communication and behaviour needs) by utilising advanced levels of knowledge and skills when assisting with planning, monitoring, assessing and managing classes.
  • To encourage pupils to become independent learners, to provide support for their welfare, and to support the inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life.

Core requirements of the post

To attend to the safety and wellbeing of pupils with special educational needs, deliver bespoke teaching, care and support programmes and undertake general administrative and teaching support for the teacher.
