Communications and Compliance Manager required in Newbury

West Berks Foodbank currently has a vacancy for a Communications and Compliance Manager.

  • Responsible to: the Foodbank Director

  • Salary: competitive.
  • Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and out of hours working with prior notice.

Overall responsibility of the job

The Communications and Compliance Manager will report directly to the Foodbank Director and will be integral to current and future successes of the West Berks Foodbank. They will lead the foodbank’s communication strategy, ensuring our donors, corporate contacts and the wider West Berkshire public are kept up to date with relevant information, know how and where to donate and understand the impact they can have on the charity.

They will also work closely with the management team, providing support for foodbank initiatives and leading on governance.

Specific responsibilities

  • Be the main point of contact for GDPR, own the compliance to the regulation and work closely with the Foodbank Director, Warehouse Manager and lead volunteers to ensure the foodbank adheres to the GDPR policy and any issues are documented and mitigated in a timely manner.
  • Own the communication strategy, using various tools and platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and email marketing to reach a wide audience on a regular basis, ensuring the message is clear and relevant to the audience. Work closely with the social media manager to ensure a pipeline of materials is provided.Work closely with the Foodbank Director to build good relationships with all referrers, ensuring the process is fit for purpose.
  • Act as additional support where needed at the distribution centres and for foodbank wider initiatives.
  • Build strong working relationships with external organisations such as Citizens Advice and Christians Against Poverty, local charities and West Berks Council.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the policies and procedures are up to date and in line with Trussell recommendations, working with the Foodbank Director, Warehouse Manager and Board of Trustees to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with the Foodbank director and warehouse manager on various events throughout the calendar year.
  • You will be expected to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required in line with your main duties.

This person should have

  • The ability to lead and manage projects.
  • Experience working with third parties, preferably charitable organisations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience in marketing or communications.
  • Ideally, experience planning and organising events.
  • Enjoyment in working and leading as part of a team.
  • Honesty and integrity.
  • A passion for working in the charity sector in the poverty field.
  • Confidence in using email, document and spreadsheet applications and the internet.

Job specific-training will be provided where appropriate.
