Hungerford Bookshop

We’ve had some cracking events recently, including one of our favourites of the year: a moving and enthralling talk on ancient stones from Fiona Robertson (for her book Stone Lands) followed by a walk in the evening midsummer sun to West Kennet Long Barrow.

Some very tempting summer reads arrived in the shop over the last seven days, which we’re excited to share with you here

The best way of ordering books is by emailing us at sales@hungerfordbookshop.co.uk or calling 01488 683480. But if you would like to order on-line and get the book delivered straight to your house then please order via our page on Bookshop.org (a brilliant alternative to Amazon).

Inklings Card & Gift Shop

We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Best Independent Card Shop in the Home Counties and South East at the Greetings Card industry awards earlier this month.  It was lovely to be nominated by so many of our suppliers and winning was the icing on the cake. We would like to thank all of our customers who have bought our cards over the years, and enthused about all of the companies that we stock.

In other news we have 50% off selected baby toys, candles, and felt products.  A perfect way to start your Christmas shopping (yes, we know it’s only July but customers are telling that they have already started to buy the bargains when they see them)

If you need to escape the heat this month, pop in to enjoy our air conditioning.

Town & Manor and Hungerford Town Hall

The A4 is closed from the Kintbury junction to and from Hungerford from 7pm to 5am until 19 July, so the common will be busier than usual. There has already been a prang. so please, please drive slowly especially as the cattle are often in the middle of the road.

Talking of cows, we still have a Belgian Blue cow that’s gone AWOL…please see details here.

And a quick reminder that Hungerford residents and charities get a 20% discount on hire rates of the Town Hall complex (except for weddings), which, we hope you will agree, is a stunning venue for events of all kinds.

Howards Pet Care

Suzi and the team have everything you need for your two and four legged friends from premium dog food, chews, feeding bowls, beds, leads, bird seed to hedgehog houses and bags of dishwater salt.

Our range of Alpha Spirit pet food is very popular, being natural and cooked food for dogs and cats giving them as close as possible the balanced,  nutritious diet they would have had in the wild.

We also sell wild bird seeds, floating duck and swan pellets . Avoid giving bread if you can, it is not close to their natural diet and cause create wing deformities due to malnutrition. The surplus bread not eaten by the birds causes pollution in the water, especially if it is mouldy, and also attracts rodents.

Also, as ever, a full range of pet food, accessories, treats and toys.

White Feather Gift Shop

Donna is very sad that her little shop in the courtyard is closing. She’s tried everything to keep it going during the past year and would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported her business.

It’s not the end of White Feather Gifts though, it’s a rethink.

Donna asks that we keep following her on social media, and stay on the lookout for updates of what is coming next.
