Create a Space is a 6 week course offered by the Corn Exchange and is designed to help young people 16 to 25 increase their confidence, think postively and raise their aspirations. The course will be led by an experienced drama practitioner who will work through a range of drama activities and focus on confidence building, resilience, ways of combatting stress and finding your voice, and will develop skills in teamwork, trust and self confidence, positive thinking, and presentation skills.
Cost: Free (thanks to a Community Learning grant from West Berkshire Council)
When: 6 weekly Thursday afternoon sessions from 27 February to 3 April.
Where: The Waterside Centre, Newbury (changed from Lambourn).
Getting there: We know that leaving the house and travelling somewhere else for sessions can be a barrier in itself, so we can arrange transport for participants.
Who: For young people 16 to 25 who are not education, employment, or training. The course will be led by Amy Trigwell-Jones (Drama Practitioner and Careers Advisor) with support from Alex Pye (Careers and Participation Officer, West Berkshire Council).

‘Students’ confidence with communicating their ideas, trying new things, thinking about how their words were translating to another person or to a group of people and learning techniques for practicing active listening skills significantly increased during the workshop.’
