Tony Gibson of Millfield, Lambourn passed away peacefully at home on Sunday 21 July 2024.
He was with his closest family, Margaret, James and Ginette for his last weekend on earth.
Tony had been struggling with various health conditions in the past few years including kidney problems, blindness in one eye and glaucoma in the other, a leg amputation and more latterly dementia. Despite all these challenges he kept his sense of humour and politeness to the people around him.
He will be missed by all his friends and family including Lambourn Food Bank, where he helped with all the paperwork and Lambourn Friendship Club, where he was a passionate scrabble player.
Tony is survived by his brother, Bob, his lifelong partner, Margaret, his daughter, Ginette and her partner Paul, his son James and his wife Vicky, and two beautiful grandchildren Izzy and Matthew.
His family and friends thank all the healthcare staff and carers who helped make him feel comfortable and relaxed in later years.
Tony has been laid to rest at Sheepdrove Natural Burial Wood with a view over the Lambourn Downs where he made his home for over 40 years.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in memory of Tony, we are collecting for Alzheimers Research UK via the funeral directors RC Smallbone. Please ring them on 01635 40536 and ask to contribute to the collection for Anthony James Gibson.
Ginette, his daughter, has written a poem in his memory which can be viewed at Penny Post’s Poetry Corner.
May Tony Rest In Peace
