Win a copy of Wayfarer by Phoebe Smith

Now that summer is almost here, many will be thinking about spending more time walking in the beautiful countryside in which this country abounds. For many, walking is a year-round activity and people do it for many different reasons. For some it’s for exercise or an escape from the tyranny of digital life. Others find it provides a deeper kind of solace, sometimes to an extent that takes them by surprise.

One such person was the writer and explorer Phoebe Smith who discovered during a long walk in Europe that she had somehow “lost her way”. Having spent a lifetime exploring unfamiliar places, she quit her dream job, ended her long-term relationship and headed home to North Wales to discover the point to…well, everything.

What follows is a captivating narrative of self-discovery and redemption with some of the country’s most stunning landscapes as its backdrop. She will be talking about her experiences at an event organised by the Hungerford Bookshop at 7pm on Wednesday 22 May in the Croft Hall. More information and booking details can be found here.

You can win a free copy of Wayfarer (normally £16.99) in this competition organised by Penny Post and the Hungerford Bookshop. All you need to do is answer the following questions…

  1. Name one of the two people whose comments about the book are featured on the front cover.
  2. What route was Phoebe Smith walking when she realised she had “lost her way”?
  3. How many days of the week is the Hungerford Bookshop generally open?

Once you’ve nailed these, email your answers to competitions@pennypost.org.uk by 9am on Monday 21 May.

Please be sure to add your name, where you live (the town or village name is fine) and your phone number (which we’ll only use if we need to contact you about this competition).
