Just hours to ‘GO’

The brand-new MONOPOLY: Newbury Edition game is just hours away from hitting the shops.

It is being launched tomorrow morning at a high-profile ceremony in the town, with both The Mayor of Newbury, Councillor Nigel Foot and the Town Crier scheduled to be there – with the latter set to be ringing his bell at exactly 10am to make the news that the town has Passed GO.

The makers of the game are Winning Moves UK, who produce MONOPOLY editions all over the world, including – recently – in Palm Springs and Phuket, Dubai and Dublin. Now the dice are hours away from rolling on Newbury.

It has already been revealed that Old Kent Road, the most talked-about square on the board and also just about the most visited during play in the game will be replaced by Greenham Common. But is there any chance that WE will be on the board as well? We have only hours to wait. We are keeping everything crossed.

“We have been wonderfully spoiled for choice putting this game together,” says John Keen-Tomlinson from Winning Moves UK, who are producing the board under license from Hasbro, a leading toy and game company.

“The game is a celebration of Newbury’s past, future and present – from the earliest of times to the modern day. All will be revealed tomorrow morning”

The board goes on sale at 10am tomorrow at Camp Hopson, The Entertainer, Ryman, Waterstones, WHSmith and The Works. It will also be extensively available online, including at Booghe.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk
