Royal Mail has raised the price again of a 1st Class stamp to £1.25.

But don’t panic as here at the Hungerford Coin and Stamp Centre we are delighted to be able to continue to sell valid 1st Class stamps at 85p each so no price increase here.

And our 2nd Class stamps are still available at 57p.

Berkshire Trout

We have had a busy summer with lots of great shows such as The Newbury Show which was spectacular. On Saturday 14 October in her role as Chair of Slow Food for Berkshire and Wiltshire Lucy will be joining a panel of speakers at the Green Weekend in the Lambourn Valley. The panel discussion will follow the showing of the documentary ‘Hungry for Change’ a collaboration between WWF, RSPB and National Trust that explores how businesses and farmers can reduce the impact of the food system on nature. We are also looking forward to being at the last Hungerford Food and Artisan Market of the season this coming Sunday. We so adore this special market and we will be counting the days till its return next spring. In the meantime we have Christmas fast approaching and the launch of two new Heritage trout products. The return, with a twist, of our Gin & Beetroot Cured Trout and our new Honey Roasted Trout. They are seriously scrumptious and would grace any Christmas dinner table. Look out for these and news of our Christmas Hampers!
 
The trout are given as much space as they need to develop and grow as they would do in the wild which provides an enhanced and delightful flavour.

Inklings

This month we are celebrating 39 years of being open and we would like to thank all our customers for supporting us over this time. In the last week we have had some new customers who have lived in Hungerford for a number of years but who had not been in the shop before.  Their commented that they hadn’t realised that the shop was so big and that we sold such a wide variety of things!
 
We have lots of lovely Halloween products to decorate your house. Our Advent Calendars and candles are also out and selling fast, as are the Diaries and Calendars. Lots more lovely new stock will be arriving over the next couple of weeks so, if you haven’t visited us yet come and see what we have to offer!

You may have noticed these signs around Freeman’s Marsh and Hungerford Common lately.
 
The Town and Manor are members of Southern Streams, a farming cluster group of more than 25,000 acres, with land that delivers water to the Rivers Dun and Shall – both tributaries of the River Kennet – as well as the River Kennet itself.
 
The farmer members of this group are committed to enriching the landscape and biodiversity in our environment, whilst enhancing water quality in our rivers, stream, lakes and ponds.
