Hungerford Methodist Church News

Hungerford Methodist Church runs regular get-togethers for the community and all are welcome. We also provide a venue for many local community groups including West Berks Foodbank, CAP Lifeskills & more.  We are raising funds for essential repairs to our roof at Hungerford Methodist Church, Bridge Street RG17 0EH. Sunday CommuniTEA  – every Sunday
12noon – 3.30pm
Everyone is welcome at Sunday CommuniTEA; pop in for a few minutes, or stay all afternoon!  Free food & hot drinks with time to chat, play board games or enjoy the peaceful riverside garden.


Hungerford Memory Worship – 2.30pm, second Thurs of each month
Join us for a 30 minute dementia friendly church service for those living with dementia and their carers. Traditional hymns, a Bible reading, prayer and a Thought-for-the-Day, followed by drinks and biscuits. Led by Revd. Andy Fitchet and Karen Frost

Church @ Costa
5.15 – 6.45pm every first and third Sunday at Costa Coffee, Hungerford High Street. All welcome. See here for more details.


Free debt advice   Struggling with debt? Money worries? The Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre provides free debt counselling, supporting people through an action plan to overcome their debts. Phone 0800 328 0006 or visit the website for more information.

CAP Lifeskills is a free 8-week course teaching practical money saving techniques, such as cooking on a budget, living healthily on less, and making your money go further. We will also give top tips for dealing with life’s pressures and taking control of your future. WEST BERKS FOODBANK supports local people in crisis, providing 7 day nutritionally balanced food parcels.  The Hungerford Distribution centre is open on Wednesdays 1-3pm at the Methodist Church Hall, offering a cuppa, a chat and signposting to other services.

If you need food, the Help Through Hardship Helpline 0808 208 2138 is open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (except bank holidays).  This is a freephone service, run by the Trussell Trust in partnership with Citizen’s Advice

THANK YOU to everyone who has given longlife, tinned or dried food and other essentials such as soap, toothbrushes & toilet rolls.  Donations may be left at the collection points in Tesco, St Lawrence’s Church & the Library.
