Citizens Advice West Berkshire is delighted to announce the launch of a new video advice service at Hungerford Hub and Library, thanks to generous funding from Hungerford Town Council and Greenham Trust.
The advice sessions will take place every Monday at 11am in Hungerford Hub and Library, 2 Church Street, RG17 0JG. Appointments for the Zoom call must be booked in advance by calling CAWB on 01635 516605. A staff member will be on hand to set up a pre-booked Zoom call (in a private space) with an adviser at CAWB’s Newbury office.
At the recent Hungerford Town Council Grant Award Ceremony, Isabel Esperança, Chief Officer of CAWB, (above with Hungerford Mayor Helen Simpson) said “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Hungerford Hub and Library to trial this new outreach service, which will provide another option for people who live or work in the Hungerford area to get face-to-face video advice without travelling to Newbury. We have found that by offering a hybrid advice service by telephone, video call, email and face-to-face, we can reach many more people who need our help.
“We are very grateful to Hungerford Town Council and the Good Exchange for their continued support which has allowed us to offer this new service. We know that there is a rising demand for our services from people living in Hungerford.”
Last year CAWB helped 129 clients from Hungerford with 599 new issues. That represents 7% of the total clients CAWB helped in 2022/23. We also achieved over £80,000 in financial outcomes for our Hungerford clients. Already this year, up until the end of April, we have helped 50 Hungerford clients with 178 issues. We hope that this new outreach option will help meet us this increased demand for our services.
