We are very happy to support activities and groups benefitting the people of Hungerford. In July our Constable, Julie Lloyd, enjoyed watching The Community of Hungerford Theatre Company’s Humble Boy, and Hungerford Children’s Theatre’s Alice the Musical. 

Our Trustees were proud to present £750 to Hungerford Primary School to help fund a visiting theatre group’s performance of The Jungle Book last term. Julie, and Trustee Fiona Hobson, were also delighted to watch the Year 6 production Olivia and were pleased to be able to loan props, used by the Tutti Girls at Hocktide. 

Meanwhile, The Town Hall complex, consisting of the Town Hall, Magistrate’s Room and Corn Exchange, is getting some extra care and attention. The attic is being cleared out, curtains damaged by flooding have been replaced, the balcony has been returned to its former glory, internal doors damaged during the April break-in are being repaired,  and Trustees on the Buildings Committee have been discussing paint colours, lighting and acoustics. 

Hungerford Town Hall is very unusual as it is one of the only town halls in Britain not to be owned by a local council, so all repairs and upkeep are funded by the Town and Manor not the tax payer.
