The Summer Reading Challenge is designed to encourage children to read and participate in fun activities and games over the summer holidays. The challenge will take place from 1 July to 15 September.
Challenge for 4 to 11 year olds
The main section of the challenge is for 4 to 11 year olds, in which they will start by visiting their local library to collect a poster and their first set of stickers and most importantly their first three books that they want to read. Then they will visit the library again once they have read three books and collect their second set of stickers and a glow in the dark bookmark. Once the children have read their final three books they will be rewarded with their final stickers and a certificate and medal.
Mini challenge
This is a separate reading challenge for pre-school children. They will start by receiving a card and several stickers to record their books they have read. Once they have read their books, finishers will be rewarded with a special medal sticker.
