Turkey Burger/Meatball Recipe

Do you ever cook with turkey mince? Pat from Newbury recommends it as a healthy alternative to beef or pork mince as it is much lower fat. You just have to be careful not to let it dry out and one way to do this is to add the healthier option of olive oil and juicy ingredients like sweetcorn to your mixture.


200gm turkey mince
1 small can of sweetcorn
1 small red onion
handful of chopped herbs
good dash of Worcestershire Sauce
good dash of good quality olive oil (as the turkey can get dry when cooked)
optional: egg, breadcrumbs


Put mince in a bowl.

Chop the onion finely and add to the mince.

Add the sweetcorn and Worcestershire Sauce, egg and breadcrumbs and stir well with a wooden spoon or knife.

Burger Option

Use your hands to shape into burgers.

Fry in oil until slightly golden. Try not to over cook as it will make them dry.

Drizzle with tomato sauce and serve with salad or lentils, or in a bun or pitta bread.

Meatball Option

Shape mixture into small balls and bake in tomato sauce in oven at 180 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Serve with pasta, rice or couscous.
