Local engineering students exhibit excellence at the University Centre Newbury

Engineers at University Centre Newbury (UCN) have been showcasing their hard work and engineering prowess at the annual Engineering Exhibition.

The latest generation of engineers are already making a positive impact on businesses in the community and these research projects aim to enhance and showcase their skills to the public and local dignitaries visiting the event.

Produced as part of the Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Degree (BEng (Hons)) programmes, research projects integrate the students’ knowledge and understanding of engineering processes with different skills and abilities that may not have been assessed previously. This may include designing their own experimental work, problem solving or finding new ways of analysing and presenting data.

Director of Business and Partnerships, UCN, Dr. Jo Houghton commented: “The standard of the student projects is outstanding they have worked incredible hard, aided by our exceptional teaching team.

“We are delighted to be able to showcase their projects and highlight the quality of work produced that is making a real difference in businesses today and of course, celebrate their success.”

Mr Cox, who graduated with a first-class honours from the degree programme in 2018, spoke of his learning journey and challenged everyone to reflect on what they’ve learnt, look for new opportunities to learn and have fun in the process.
