A New Film Festival Comes To Marlborough!

We are pleased to announce an exciting new addition to Marlborough’s cultural scene starting next week from Tuesday 28 June to Saturday 2 July. The Ignite Film Festival, which celebrated its inaugural event last summer, is now hosting its five-day film festival for the first time at The Parade Cinema in Marlborough, a historic chapel recently converted into a state-of-the-art cinema.

The festival is the collaborative brainchild of seasoned film producers Ross and Amelia Mackenzie of Firebird Films and experienced festival judge and filmmaker Billy Rees. Combining their creative flairs and talents for filmmaking, the trio set out to achieve one thing. To provide a diverse platform for showcasing global independent films of a variety of styles, lengths, and genres.

Over fifty films will be screened and each day is followed by a live Q&A discussion with one of the selected filmmakers. The final night concludes with a glamourous awards ceremony and networking drinks, with bespoke awards designed using sustainable materials by Swindon-based graphic designer Mark Pepperall of Hot Pepper Design.

Now more than ever, we must support the local arts and cherish film’s capacity to entertain, educate and provide us with escapism. View this year’s Official Selections and purchase your tickets soon to avoid missing out on this unparalleled cultural occasion! Ensure to also revisit last year’s award winners.
