On Wednesday 23rd February, 2022, the Friends of Lambourn Library welcomed Nicola Chester, who talked about her book “On Gallows Down”, an exploration of “Place, Protest and Belonging” and above all, nature.
Nicola is well-known to many in West Berkshire through her column in the Newbury Weekly News. She is also the RSPB‘s first and longest-running female columnist in Nature’s Home Magazine and a Guardian Country Diarist. She has been writing professionally for more than 17 years, after winning the BBC Wildlife Magazine‘s Nature Writer of the Year Award. Her first book, “On Gallows Down”, has been described as “part nature writing, part memoir”.
