We are a friendly charitable organisation helping to provide medically-related transport for patients of Lambourn Surgery. Some journeys can be as short as to the Lambourn Surgery, but more commonly to a local hospital and occasionally to London or other medical facilities.
We are currently looking for a few more volunteers to help.
We man a telephone in an office in Lambourn Memorial Hall on Mondays and Thursdays between 10am and 12noon. This is to take the incoming requests and then, using a list of volunteers, ring around to arrange a suitable driver to help. There is a rota and these duties normally come around only once or twice a month.
Our clients live between Great Shefford and Ashbury in the valley and between Shefford Woodlands and Baydon on the top road. Our volunteer drivers come from the same areas but ideally we need more from the East Garston and Great Shefford end of the valley.
We have a list of drivers and their preferences. Always remember that this is voluntary and there is no obligation to do any particular job. You are volunteering your time but you get a mileage allowance to help with the vehicle’s running costs. Again, you are only likely to be requested once or twice a month.
