Fare Wise Travel
Lots of round UK cruises on offer including the Disney cruise line for those who would like to try 3 or 4 nights from Southampton as a family treat.
All plans however depend on government announcement on Monday and the report of the Global Travel Taskforce on 12/4/21. In theory international travel can resume 17/5/21 but all quarantine and testing restrictions remain in place for returning to the UK and many countries remain closed such as Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Airlines have many new routes from regional airports in particular such as Wizz Air to Larnaca in Cyprus from Birmingham and there is a much greater concentration on using bio fuels and super-efficient aircraft to reduce carbon footprint.

Hungerford Legal & Financial Centre
One year on, our office in central Hungerford, overlooking the courtyard at the back of Eliane’s Cafe, is shared by Marlborough Law, Claritas Accountancy and Hungerford Financial Partners. We also collaborate with HR experts Professionals in Partnership, and asset finance experts Industry Finance UK. This collaboration has been set up so that busy local people can address all their personal or business problems in one appointment at one place.
Earlier this month Marlborough Law accepted their 380th client on to their books which is quite a feat in 3 ½ years considering 12 months of that has been in lockdown.
They have done several commercial conveyancing jobs in Marlborough and Burbage but the growing demand for residential work has seen our investment in Legal Search and Completion software as well as changing banks to our local Metro Bank for a client account. It’s very exciting and we are looking forward to doing more of it as it grows.
With growth comes the need for new staff and Marlborough Law is pleased to hire local Hungerfordian Peyton Matthews-Hewer, as a Trainee Solicitor.
Peyton attended the local primary and secondary schools, graduated from the University of Buckingham with a 2:1 Law Degree and went on to complete her LPC at BPP Law School with a Distinction.
She is looking forward to joining our local firm as we grow and expand into new areas.
We are sooo looking forward to re-opening on 12th April and welcoming you in to browse the goodies in all our units!
In the meantime, we are still operating a click and collect service to anyone who sees something that they’d like to buy either displayed in our shop window or on our social media.
Hungerford Coin & Stamp Centre
Having High Street retail premises during a lock down has proved a challenge to say the least.
We have missed seeing our regular customers and of course the vast numbers of owners who wish to have their coins and stamps valued.
However on the flip side online business has been very brisk. The coin and stamp market have been exceptionally brisk, with prices soaring, especially at auction.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our refurbished shop on 12 April
Last week the famous Edward VIII gold £5 coin sold at auction for a World Record £1.65 million
This coin was never issued for circulation and is likely only the second one in private hands. Edward VIII himself always wanted a set of his coins but was never able to acquire one.
Before I get inundated with valuation requests for other Edward VIII memorabilia, the crockery and stamps are only worth pence.
The Brass Threepence bearing Edward VIII’s head occasionally pops up for sale. They did enter circulation inadvertently- some were sent out by the Mint to vending machine manufacturers to test their machines for specific gravity. When he resigned they were immediately recalled but a few escaped into circulation. Today one would realise around £40,000.
