World Day Of Prayer Service Online: Friday 5 March 2021 – Vanuatu

Vanuatu painting & map

The World Day of Prayer is celebrated around the world on the first Friday in March.  Hungerford will be part of this global celebration from 10am on Friday 5th March on St Lawrence’s Church YouTube channel – join at a time to suit you!

Each year focusses on a different country, and this year it’s the turn of Vanuatu, with the theme “Build on a Strong Foundation”.  Vanuatu has beautiful beaches, coral reefs and wildlife, but it’s vulnerable to tropical storms, tsunamis and earthquakes.  The service reflects the hopes, concerns and prayers of women in this ethnically and culturally diverse country.  This same service recorded by the churches of Vanuatu is available on the World Day of Prayer website

World Day of Prayer is a global, inter-church movement.  It starts in Samoa, then travels around the world via 170 participating countries before the day draws to a close in American Samoa some 39 hours later.  The same order of service is used in translation all around the world.
