Author, caterer and florist team up to surprise 10 lucky recipients, based on nominations from friends or family.

Thatcham-based debut author Heather Barnett is joining forces with Colline Watts of Colline’s Kitchen and Helen Vickers of Willow & Blooms to surprise ten people in the Newbury area with gifts on Random Acts of Kindness day.

To celebrate the upcoming publication of her novel, Acts of Kindness, Heather has teamed up with Colline and Helen to spread a little happiness on Wednesday 17 February. Ten recipients will receive a delicious brownie gift box, a pretty hatbox of spring flowers and a signed advance reader copy of Heather’s novel.

The trio are appealing for people to nominate loved ones for the surprise deliveries. Anyone in Newbury and the surrounding area can be put forward and ten lucky locals will be chosen to receive the gifts.

‘Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference at any time but they’ve been particularly important over the past twelve months,’ says Heather. ‘We’d love to hear about people who deserve a treat – it could be a frontline worker or perhaps a loved one who you’re not able to see in person for a hug at the moment.’

‘My debut novel, Acts of Kindness, is about the impact a small act of kindness can have on someone’s life. The fact that Random Acts of Kindness Day falls around a month before my publication date felt like something worth celebrating.’

‘I’m delighted to be joining forces with two award-winning local firms for this initiative. Colline’s Kitchen is a baking and catering company set up in Newbury in 2019 to provide wholesome home-cooked food without compromising on flavour. Willow & Blooms was launched in 2012 and has built an enviable reputation for the supply and delivery of beautiful, fresh and seasonal flowers in and around Newbury and Thatcham,’ says Heather.
