Business Support and Updates on Hungerford Chamber of Commerce Meeting 27 January 2021

Laura-Farris-Hungerford Chamber of Commerce

January’s Hungerford Chamber of Commerce meeting (recorded on zoom below) featured several speakers with support and advice for all local businesses:

00:45 HR Specialist Karen Ferris from Professionals in Partnership on changes in employment law, end of furlough scheme and how businesses can apply for an apprentice with the Kickstart scheme

16:30 Laura Farris, MP answers questions on delays in grant applications, confusion over key worker status for building trade, lack of support for businesses who don’t have to close but whose revenue is very low during lockdown, unlikely to be more financial support but 3 March budget will probably see stimulation of consumer demand. Vaccination is on track but PM is likely to be very cautious to end this lockdown to prevent risk of having to go into a fourth lockdown. Unlikely that non-essential shops will be open before Easter and we might not be back to normal by the summer.

50:15 Phil Opie & Sebastian Court, Metrobank Newbury explains the banking and financial service they provide to local businesses

1:14:20 Andy Spaake, West Berkshire Injury Clinic on how to stay mentally and physically healthy while working from home during lockdown.
