Aston’s Bakehouse, Inkpen

Unit 7, New Mills, Post Office Road Inkpen, RG17 9PU

Astons Bakehouse is a wholesale organic artisan bakery. Founded in 1983 in West Berkshire, they are proud to be one of Rick Stein's Food Heroes

Aston's sourdough breads are baked by hand with certified organic heritage grain sourced direct from local farmers and stone-ground in their West Berkshire bakery.

Their breads are shaped by hand producing a rustic loaf full of character. Using only natural organic ingredients creates superb texture and flavour in their bread. There are no additives, no factory processes and no shortcuts. They also make delicious pastries.

"We are a small team, all of us are passionate about our bread, the business and maintaining an ethical and environmental approach to everything we do."

Aston's bread can be bought locally at Yew Tree Garden Centre, Helen Browning's Royal Oak Pub, Bedwyn Stores, Gastro Nicks and the Saturday Market at the Five Bells in Wickham. For the complete list please visit their website.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

'Syd and his team try to make the business as ethically sound as possible: no artificial additives, the use of fossil fuels kept to a minimum, recycled packaging, and nothing hidden from the customers - right down to the sunflower oil used to line the bread tins.'
Rick Stein, Food Heroes

'Astons supply my local organic shop with bread and its DELICIOUS. My favourite is the potato and rosemary- probably the best tasting bread I've ever eaten.'
