Virtual Newbury Apple Day 2020

Sadly, Newbury Apple Day 2020 has been cancelled due to the current social distancing requirements, but will return in 2021.

The event is not disappearing entirely for 2020. There are a couple of activities that are possible this year. Surplus apples will be picked and collected, and an apple identification service will be offered on-line.

Donate Apples

Surplus apples from gardens in and around Newbury can be donated to help support Community Orchards in the town. Fruit can be collected, or volunteers will come to pick. Please contact NewburyAppleday@gmail.com or phone 07930 570541 to arrange. ‘My Apple Juice’ will be pressing and pasteurising, and the juice will be sold to raise funds. Alternatively you can take your fruit directly to ‘My Apple Juice’ in Hungerford. Find them at www.myapplejuice.co.uk.

Apple Identification

One of the activities that has proved popular at regular Apple Days is the apple identification service. This year the service will be run on-line. If you would like to find out if the tree in your garden is a Lord Lambourne or a Welford Park Nonsuch, or some other variety, we need as much information about your tree and apples as possible, along with photos.

To find out more about the apple identification service please go the Newbury Apple Day Facebook pages or contact NewburyAppleday@gmail.com.

Newbury Apple Day will be back on 2 October 2021!
