A family near Great Bedwyn/Marlborough SN8 is looking for a Housekeeper/Nanny to help keep their busy home running smoothly. The role will involve:
- Cleaning – usual household cleaning plus anything that arises
- Laundry – washing, ironing, making beds
- Simple family cooking – meals for children and salads for grown-ups
- Limited childcare – school run on one day, giving tea/supper
Ideally one person can cover everything, but we are open to the work being split across two people according to cleaning/housekeeping and childcare/cooking.
Cleaning: We want more than cleaning; we need someone who can take ownership for keeping the house running smoothly, so some initiative is required. Best suited to someone with plenty of energy who is not easily daunted and who will get on with whatever needs doing, from washing up, to stripping beds, to cleaning the slide, to putting the bins out, to regular dusting, hoovering and mopping, etc.
Cleaning hours are three to four hours a day, spread ideally over three or four days, ie approximately 12 hrs per week. The timing of the hours is flexible, but ideally between 9am and 4pm.
Cooking/Childcare: This will involve taking two children to school, returning and cooking the children’s suppers and light lunches for the grown-ups for the week. It may be required sometimes to do ad hoc food shopping. Then returning to school to collect the children, bring them home and give them supper. This is for one day/week and needs to be a Monday or a Tuesday.
Cooking/Childcare hours are circa 07.30-17.00, on a Monday or a Tuesday.
You will need your own car (expenses will be reimbursed for school run and any errands). You will need to take pride in your work and be well organised. Good spoken and written English is essential. A love of children also required.
Start date: Ideally week commencing 16 September. First-round interviews over the summer; second-round interviews evenings (7-9pm) on 8 and 9 September.
Pay: Good hourly rate, self-employed.
