Exciting developments at Hungerford Town FC as they prepare for 2019-20 season

With less than six weeks to go until the start of next season, the new leadership of Hungerford Town Football Club is busy making lots of changes at the club to attract record numbers for the first game.

While Manager Ian Herring is signing up new players (including ex-Chippenham, Walsall and Oxford United striker James Constable) and organising friendlies (including a prestigious behind-closed-doors match against the Kuwait national team) the management has signed a three-year shirt sponsorship deal and is working on improving the infrastructure of the ground.

This includes the installation of a new stand at the end opposite the clubhouse, which has been built to meet National-League ground-grading requirements, as well as allowing card payments across the whole ground, including at all bars, food service, the club shop and the turnstiles.

The management has also designated a new family and accessible area running the length of the pitch, with a seated stand and a covered terrace as well as plenty of space and no obstruction for pushchairs and wheelchairs. “I’m a family man myself,” explains Vice Chairman Carl Reader, “and I want to feel comfortable bringing my kids to games. I think a designated family area will work well for all generations of fans.”

“Whether you support Manchester City or Chelsea, Liverpool or Barcelona, we want to be your second club,” continues Carl. “We aim to be team you actually go to watch and enjoy experiencing live.”

The date of Hungerford’s first home game of the 2019-20 season isn’t known yet, although it will be on either Saturday 3rd or Saturday 10th August. However, you can be sure it will be a game to remember as the club aims to #LoadTheLane by attracting 1,000 fans to kick-start the season. So don’t miss out – pencil both dates into your diary for now and be part of a special occasion on whichever of the two dates this turns out to be.
