News from Friends of Hungerford Primary School

News from the Friends of Hungerford Primary School – June 2019

The Friends of Hungerford Primary School (formerly PTA) is a charitable organisation formed by parents, which supports Hungerford Primary to provide the best educational experience for our children. We work with the school to provide support, both financial and practical. We fund-raise, make grant applications and try to find skilled induviduals to help us. We also support parents directly with practical solutions such as our second hand school umiform sales. In addition to supporting the school in its everyday needs we are currently building relationships between the school and other Hungerford based groups to raise the profile of the school in the community.

Summer Fete Saturday 20 July – Save the Date!

We have some fantastic stalls and activities lined up, with more to come. We would be really, really appreciative of donations of the following items for the fete. If you can help us, please get in touch.

  • Cakes, Tea, coffee and sugar
  • Napkins, Reusable plastic beakers for children’s drinks
  • Mugs or tea cups (perfect timing if you’re having a clear out!)
  • Lemons and limes, onions, strawberries, oranges, cucumber and mint (Try Karen and Neil’s fantastic fruit and veg stall on a Wednesday), Sauces for the barbecue, Squash (orange and blackcurrant)
  • Charcoal

All the money that we raise from the fete will be ploughed back into our school to provide educational visits, teaching materials to enhance the curriculum, and much more.

If you would like to have a stall at our fete, please email us Hungerford.primary.pta@gmail.com

Sponsored Obstacle Challenge

All children took part in a sponsored obstacle challenge this week to raise funds to revamp and repair parts of the playground that are in desperate need of some care and attention. Everyone had a fantastic day, we are so proud of them all for taking part. A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the day, especially our wonderful year 6’s who helped us to pack up at the end of the day. We are also very grateful to professional photographers Stuart and Ross March who volunteered to take photos of our runners and their certificates at the end.

“Hats off to all those who organised it and to the parents who helped. It was a wonderful day, extremely well organised and the kids had a brilliant time. Big smiles and sweaty faces! What a great idea for a money raiser”

“My boys had a brilliant time yesterday, thank you to everyone who organised it!”

If you would like to donate to our worthy cause, please contact us. Every penny we raise really does count.

Would your company like to sponsor our events?

We would love to hear from you! Support from sponsors really does make a huge difference and allows us to make our events bigger and more exciting, and therefore raise more money for our school. In return for your support we will publicise your company through our social media presence, local press contacts, event flyers, and in and around our school.
