Energy Tips For Exam Time from Pranic Healer Heide Cussell

Exam stress, nerves, and fatigue?

Pranic Healer Heide Cussell shares some tips on how to boost your body’s energy source, the mitochondria, to help you cope during the stressful exam period.

What are mitochondria?

Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the cell. They are our batteries that produce energy for our cells. They act like a digestive system which takes in nutrients, breaks them down, and creates energy rich molecules for the cell. The biochemical processes of the cell are known as cellular respiration. Many of the reactions involved in cellular respiration happen in the mitochondria. If a cell feels it is not getting enough energy to survive, it will create more mitochondria.

Heide’s Tips

1.A bowl of porridge for breakfast will keep your energy levels up.

2.Eating a bowl of mixed fruit before and after exams will help energise your body’s mitochondria – and in turn help you cope with things more easily.

3.After every exam, spend some time just relaxing outside in the sun; another energy food source for the mitochondria.

4.In the evening eat fruits rich in melatonin (pineapples & cherries) ; they increase your ability to relax, and can help with your wake sleep cycle (see smoothie recipe below).

5.Try to avoid dairy products which can reduce your energy.

6. A small amount of salt in your daily diet is beneficial for mitochondria.

7. Have a go at Super Brain Yoga to balance the left and right sides of your brain, decrease stress levels and maximise creativity. Start with 7 repetitions then build up to 21.

Smoothie Recipe

So here’s what you’ll need to create a focus-boosting smoothie:

  • 3 ice cubes
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful fresh cherries and berries
  • 1 handful of chopped pineapple
  • 125 ml of milk (preferably non-dairy like coconut, almond or rice milk)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • Optional: 1 tbsp maple syrup

Once you have gathered all your ingredients, put them all in a blender and zap for about 30 seconds, or until you’re satisfied with the consistancy of the drink. Don’t forget to check the blender lid is on properly or it will have the opposite effect, and cause you more stress than you had before you made it!

Finally enjoy the smoothie, take a deep breath, and relax. Exams can be extremely stressful on your life, but you can’t let them become detremental to your health. All of us here wish you the best of luck, both with exams, and with whatever you choose to do once they’re over.
