International Mystery Food Festival at the Hungerford Care Home

On 27 February 2019, we arranged to have an International Mystery Food Festival at the Hungerford Care Home for our residents, relatives, team members and the community. We are very lucky to have team members from different countries and they all cooked their traditional food.

The idea of the event was to display the flags instead of the dishes and visitors had to guess which country it is and then taste the food. We were delighted to have  Councillor Helen Simpson (Mayor of Hungerford) and Councillor Keith Knight (Deputy Mayor) at our event. “What a lot of work went into this, and how well appreciated it was,” the Mayor said. “We had a really lovely afternoon. I was blown away by the effort of all the staff – so many dishes on offer. It’s one of my favourite places to attend in my civic role and the staff are always so warm and friendly, I know some of the residents personally and its lovely catching up and sharing stories of old times.”

Team members brought in their baby photos and we had a “Guess Who that baby is?” All our team members, residents and visitors including the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Hungerford had a great laugh guessing all the photos – though not all of them got the answer right first time.

Home Manager, Mirela Ghiuvea said, “It was a fantastic event organised by the Magic Moments Club Co-ordinators. I would also like to thank all my team who cooked for this event and everyone who attended. We enjoy holding events like these at Hungerford Care Home as it brings us and the community together and to build a good relationship with them.”
