Come, everything is ready! World Day of Prayer 2019

The World Day of Prayer is celebrated around the world on the first Friday in March. Hungerford will be part of this global celebration at 2.30pm on Friday 1st March at St Lawrence’s Church. Each year focusses on a different country, and this year it’s the turn of Slovenia, with the theme “Come – everything is ready!”

The women of Slovenia who prepared the service encourage us to reflect on the barriers they have faced since the end of the Second World War when their country was part of Yugoslavia, a Marxist socialist republic. They share the challenges they have met and the hopes they have for the future.

World Day of Prayer is a global, ecumenical, women-led movement. It starts in Samoa, then travels around the world via 120 participating countries before the day draws to a close in American Samoa some 38 hours later. The same order of service is used in translation all around the world.

Come – everything is ready! And everyone is welcome.
