On Sunday 10th August West Berkshire Mencap held their first Car Boot Sale of the year. The event raised over £110 for the charity’s Family Advisory Service with sellers and buyers making their way to their car boot sale despite the horrendous wet and windy weather. West Berkshire Mencap’s Family Advisory Service provides advice and guidance to individuals with learning disabilities and their family and carers on a number of areas, including their rights and benefits.
Carrie-Anne Ferrie, Fundraising Manager of West Berkshire Mencap said, “We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along supported us with this event, which we are looking to make a regular occurrence at our centre. As well as raising valuable funds, the event had a great community feel and brought awareness to the attendees of our work locally and the importance of it. Our next Car Boot Sale will be held on the 28th September and will be an inside and outside event with sellers being able to sell on our field and in our hall. The event will be raising funds in aid of our horticultural therapy project Growing4all.”
West Berkshire Mencap’s next Car Boot sale will be on 28th September from 10am to 1.30pm at the Mencap Centre in Newbury. It is £4 per vehicle for sellers to sell at the event and a suggested donation of £1 per adult and 50p per child for buyers. Sellers can arrive from 9am and inside spaces for sellers are on a first come first served basis.
