The Pheasant Inn

Pheasant Bar

Featured in The Sunday Times as one of ‘The Best Places to Stay in UK”, The Pheasant in Shefford Woodlands has a hospitality pedigree that stretches back 450 years to when it first sheltered drovers herding livestock from Wales to London.

Today The Pheasant and its eleven en-suite guest rooms offer an adventurous drinks menu, flavoursome modern British cooking, luxurious accommodation with outstanding value – and a warm, relaxed welcome.

A scion of the fastest-growing country pub group in the south of England, landlord Jack Greenall orchestrated a top-to-bottom restoration that both honours The Pheasant’s heritage and ushers in a new generation of epicurean pleasures.

Pheasant bar-rest view 400

Whether you pull up a vintage leather bar stool, hunker down in our cosy snug with its quirky print gallery and bespoke selection of local and general interest books or join friends at a table in the main dining space – it’s a great place to sample our broad and imaginative drinks range and regularly changing menu which showcases the freshest and best local produce and unfussy, flavoursome cooking.

The Restaurant

Pheasant Salmon 400

The Pheasant‘s approach to food is about bringing together the best ingredients, simply and deliciously. Rooted in classic modern British cooking, our menu showcases the freshest meat, fish, vegetables and fruit and finest artisan products from around the country, while the diverse daily specials put local and seasonal ingredients centre stage. Prices are appetising too – most of the main courses are well under £20.

Stayed here over the weekend as part of a large group. Rooms are light, spacious and very clean. 18 of us had dinner, service was perfect and 10 steaks were cooked to perfection and as requested, not one mistake. Good choice at breakfast and cooked to order. Highly recommended! Steve Harris
