Swap Shop Success

HEAT spokesman Shane Finlay would like to thank all the wonderful volunteers who made the recent Hungerford Swap Shop into another great success.

It was clear that many were thrilled with their finds as they stopped on the way out to boast about their newly (and freely) acquired treasures. What a great day for the children, too, as they could pick out any toy they wanted, delighting their parents with no money spent. Newcomers to the area were impressed by the community spirit and the ebb and flow of goods with many of them signing up to get more involved in future activities.

Generally a very well executed event – thanks to the organisers from HEAT – with many complimentary remarks from those attending.

The big wins of the day were that we kept good and useful things out of the landfill and that we helped bring our community together to share and further build relationships.

  1. Dear Penny,

We would like to add our thanks for the Swap Shop which provides a very useful opportunity to find new owners for household items no longer needed. Also, as I mentioned, we have three wooden pallets available free to collect to anyone who could use them. You mentioned a possible contact and/or the possibility of a Penny Post mention. Initially my e mail address would be the best point of contact. Thank you for your help. Ursula Davies
