Scouts supporting Canoe Race again

Once again, 1st Hungerford Scouts will be assisting the organisers of the Devizes to Westminster Canoe Race by running the Checkpoint on the towpath by the Croft Field over the Easter weekend.

Not only must all boats be accounted for, but for their own safety, those canoeists who are too slow on the early stages are not permitted onto the much more challenging River Thames.

Canoeists, their support teams, spectators and dog-walkers are all invited to the Scouts’ tent on the Field for tea, coffee, cake, soup and other goodies on both Good Friday and Easter Saturday, from 11am until 5pm.

Money raised from the sale will support the Scout Group. We welcome boys and girls from age 6 as Beavers, from 8 years as Cubs, and from 10.5 years as Scouts. If you would like to know more about Scouting for your child, or how you could become involved as an adult helper, please contact Group Scout Leader, Matt Head

Hungerford Scouts will be on parade on Sunday 23 April when Kennet District Scouts hold their annual St George’s Day Parade and service at St Lawrence’s Church in Hungerford. The Scouts will also be part of Hungerford’s annual Hocktide celebrations by joining the Constable’s Parade and Service on Sunday 30 April.
