Perfect Party Skincare Tips

It’s wintertime with whipping winds, dry air and chilly temperatures which may be taking its toll on your skin. With the heating turned up and the cold air outside, your skin is probably feeling dry and dehydrated, so consider a pre-Christmas skin treatment and some perfect party skincare tips to ensure your skin looks and feels great for the Christmas party season.

Get your winter dose of vitamins

Safe exposure to the sun is essential for production of vitamin D through the skin; however, throughout the winter months you might be concerned that you are not getting enough. In order to avoid a deficiency, aim to have 20 to 30 minutes of safe exposure to the sun two or three times a week. Wrap up on those crisp, but sunny, winter days and get outdoors! Alternatively, try taking a daily supplement of vitamin D; I recommend Vitamin D3 4000iu from Lamberts.

Boost winter skin health from the inside out

Nutrients from foods that benefit our skin health will also benefit our overall health and wellbeing. Therefore, it is important to eat a diet packed with a variety of anti-oxidants and nutrients, such as fresh vegetables and fruit, whole grains, cold water fish, lean protein and legumes, along with plenty of nuts and seeds. If you are not keen on eating lots of fruit and vegetables, why not try juicing them? I highly recommend a daily shot of wheatgrass juice to boost your intake of vitamins and minerals.

Maintain skin hydration

Maintaining the correct level of skin hydration during the winter months can be tricky, so start by drinking at least two litres of water a day. If the very thought of this makes you shiver, try drinking your water hot, with a squeeze of fresh lemon or ginger. Also, take a daily supplement of essential fatty acids which include omega 3, 6, and 9. I recommend Danne Montague-King’s EFAs. Take two capsules daily for glowing, hydrated skin. To give your skin an instant boost of hydration on the outside, try DermaQuest’s Essential Hydrating B5 Serum. You will be amazed at the results.
