Newbury Building Society is an independent building society that has been serving the community for over 160 years, providing savings accounts, mortgages and straightforward advice to our customers.
We have 10 branches in Newbury, Thatcham, Hungerford, Basingstoke and Dicot (as well as Alton, Winchester, Andover, Abingdon and Wokingham).
We are proud to be owned by our customers, rather than stakeholders. This means that instead of having shareholders, we have members who collectively own the business and are also our customers. We were originally set-up to meet the financial needs of savers and borrowers in our community. This principle is still true today.
We thank all our members who voted for us in the British Banking Awards 2018 and made it possible for us to win two awards! The Society won Best Mortgage Provider (beating Darlington Building Society, Halifax, Nationwide Building Society, NatWest and Virgin Money).
