MBE for Suzanne Taylor, Head of Hungerford Nursery School Centre for Children and Families

Hungerford Nursery Suzanne Taylor

In this New Year’s Honours list, Suzanne Taylor, Head of Hungerford Nursery School Centre was surprised and delighted to have been appointed an MBE for her services to education. “I’m not sure who nominated me but it needed to be between five and 15 people so it’s a real shock. I think it is a a recognition of the achievements of our staff and governors who work tirelessly to provide the best educational provision for children and families in Hungerford and the West of West Berkshire as a Nursery School and Family Centre

“The support that we receive from families and, of course, the children themselves has always been amazing. This honour would not have come without the wonderful encouragement through the years of those around me, my husband and family”.

Suzanne became Head of the Nursery School nine years ago and last year was awarded the status of National Leader of Education, with the Nursery becoming a National Support School. Suzanne also oversees the Family Centre and Teaching Centre.

“We as a DfE Early Years Teaching Centre, and now also a designated National Support School, endeavour to engage and inspire Early Years Practitioners across an extensive area. I am grateful too to multi-professional colleagues – who have worked together with us in the West Berkshire Building Communities project and other initiatives to address issues, such as mental health. I would like to thank all those who encourage Hungerford Nursery School Centre for Children and Families to continue to “be the best you can be”.

Chair of governors Daphne Angell said “I’m delighted that Suzanne has been given due recognition for her work. Since her appointment our nursery has been rated Outstanding by OFSTED. She is the most innovative, inspirational person who is capable of achieving her objectives. She has been the driving force behind our thriving Pre-Nursery.

“Suzanne never accepts second best and never considers any challenge too great. She has a wonderful manner with young children, their parents and with her staff. She makes such a difference to our very young people and their families”.

Hungerford Nursery School from 3-4 years is currently full however there are some spaces available in the Pre-Nursery which children join the term after they are two (and then they do not need to register again for the Nursery School as they automatically get a place). Names can go on the Pre-Nursery waiting list from one years old.
