Hungerford RFC helps ‘Help for Heroes’

On Saturday 4th February, Hungerford RFC had the pleasure of hosting the ‘Help for Heroes’ walkers at the end of the second day of their walk from Twickenham to Cardiff.  The walkers have with them the official match ball for the Wales vs England match on the 11th Feb.  Covering a impressive 31 miles a day in their first 2 days, the walkers should reach Cardiff in plenty of time for the big day.

Shown in the picture are the three walkers, Andy “Gibbo” Gibbs (holding the ball), Phil White and J C Cameron Wood.  Also in the picture is their support crew of Georgina Compton and Penny Harris along with Henry Sandys-Lumsdaine of Hungerford RFC U16s and Berkshire County U16s.

This is the second time in 2 years that Gibbo and the crew have used Hungerford RFC as their stopping point and commented on the great reception they have received at the club and especially the open fire.  They remained at the club to watch the England versus France match and continued their walk on Sunday 5th February.
